Originally, the Scorpion was meant to be served in a large bowl for a group and was named because of how dangerously boozy it was. Trader Vic himself came up with this iconic tiki drink. I, however, found a recipe in Amy Traynor's The Essential Bar Book that reduced it for one person and made it a little less boozy. It was fantastic, well-balanced, and basically everything that a tiki drink should be.
Recipe
1 oz Cognac
1 oz aged rum (I used a demerara rum: El Dorado 12 year)
2 oz orange juice
1 oz lemon juice
0.5 oz orgeat
Garnish: Orange slice and mint sprig (I didn't have these and so didn't garnish it)
Shake and serve over crushed ice in your favorite tiki drink
